Meet Cherie Gustafson, LCPC
I’m Cherie Gustafson, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based in Southern, Coastal Maine. I entered the mental health field in the early '90s and have had the honor of working with hundreds of individuals across various settings, including community mental health agencies, school guidance counseling, and private practice.
In my private practice, I intentionally choose not to affiliate with “big box” venture capital mental health or insurance companies. This allows me to focus exclusively on my clients, free from the cumbersome administrative distractions and constraints, while maintaining strict adherence to my licensing rules and ethical standards.
I specialize in helping individuals navigate the complexities of mental health challenges, including symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and grief. My approach is integrative, built upon decades worth of education, trainings, and experience, and is tailored to each client’s unique needs. Having experienced the transformative power of therapy in my own life, I firmly believe in the importance of therapists “doing their own work” in order to provide the best possible care for their clients.
In addition to providing therapy, I am passionate about guiding people through the complex and often daunting process of finding the right therapist, and will soon be offering workshops that teach people the essential steps to find the right match for their mental health needs.
As a seasoned clinician, I also lead educational book clubs for mental health professionals, where we explore the different therapeutic modalities and practices, and provide professional consultation to other therapists.
